Making memory "young" again. Alzheimer's is brutal for so many reasons, but especially for the idea that once memories go, they're gone for good. But maybe that's changing. Swiss scientists just partially "reprogrammed" neurons in mice, restoring memory by making aging brain cells behave young again. Yes, it's early, and it's only in mice. Still, what if dementia is even a little reversible? That would change everything we thought we knew about cognitive decline.
By fine tuning the motion of molecules, scientists created an injectable therapy that encouraged the growth of neurites and neurons in damaged spinal organoids.
